Welcome to BEYONDTV

This website is under construction, in the mean time here is some information on the subjects you might be searching for....

foto hereBeyondTV is PVR/media center software for Microsoft Windows produced by the american company SnapStream. Like most media center software, and devices such as TiVo and Sky+, BeyondTV allows you to watch, pause and record live TV, as well as scheduled recording, and recording of shows regularly. It also allows you to search for a show in its EPG, allowing the user to find out when shows are on without having to search through all the listings themselves.

Some of the more powerful and unique functions that BeyondTV sports are SmartSkip (the ability to automatically detect scene changes, including commercials, and then quickly jump between them) and ShowSqueeze (the ability to automatically compress your TV recordings to other formats and profiles). BeyondTV can also be used in a server - client configuration, allowing one computer to host all your media and tv tuning capabilities, while other computers which are connected to it via a network can stream this information. These additional computers could also be connected to TVs for more comfortable viewing.
As of BeyondTV 4.5, SnapStream now offers an optional DVD burning plug-in. This plug-in allows you to burn directly from the application to DVD. DVD burning is only supported for mpeg2 recorded shows.

BeyondTV is an international video festival in Swansea. Organised by independent filmmakers Undercurrents, BeyondTV has taken place since 2000 in various venues, from the Patti Pavilion, BeyondTV 2005-06 in the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea Marina. BeyondTV 2005 hosted the Misty (media activist) Awards for activist filmmakers, comedians and musicians. Comic Mark Thomas and festival band Seize the Day were amongst the winners. The festival tours during summer from Glastonbury festival to Big Green Gathering and others. In 2007 Beyond TV will be held on December 1st in Swansea.
BeyondTV showcases the talents of independent filmmakers using the skills to bring about positive social change.

'Reach for the Sky', premiered at BeyondTV 2004, produced by Undercurrents, focuses on Swansea Airport and that uncontrolled aviation expansion is unsustainable. Swansea Airport, with the connivance of Swansea Council, was given the go-ahead to operate in the centre of the Gower peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the first AONB to be designated in the country. Public pressure forced Swansea Airport to close down. Air Wales, which operated from Swansea Airport, now operates from Cardiff International Airport.

Independent filmmakers Undercurrents are based in Swansea.
